How Great I Am.

The words by Muhammad Ali inspired me. His knowledge of his greatness  and the fact that you could feel the immense power and passion he has through what  he spoke, inspired me, moved me, motivated me.

Recently in my PR class, we watched the “Imma Show You, How Great I Am” speech by Mr. Ali himself and I could feel his confidence, you knew he knew; how powerful he was. This speech didn’t make me cringe because he was speaking about himself, the way someone would speak about another person that they admired but it surged inspiration through my bones. I felt tingles. Man, you know your the shit and it’s amazing. And he rhymed pretty well too, so he’s definitely the shit.

Imma show you, how great I am.
Only last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalised a brick.
I’m so mean, I make medicine sick.
Imma show you, how great I am.

It’s like he was trying to prove something, but he knew at the end of the day he didn’t have to prove anything, he really was the best.

There’s a reason I bring this up, we need to know we are the shit. Even if we don’t speak as well as him, or even have a press conference on how well we know that we are most definitely cooler than a bag of chips, but we are not afraid to hide it as well. Sometimes I feel as if society has double standards; know you’re good at something but don’t know too well. But, I feel as if we need to listen to society and stop being afraid of loving what you can do, how you do it, who you are, etc.

If you’re good at something be proud of it, even if it’s finally being able to tie your shoes. Stand up, be proud. Gain from some inspiration from Ali, and show them, how great you are.
